Case Details
Seventeen years after undergoing bilateral breast augmentation with a breast lift, this 55-year-old female patient returned with concerns that her implants felt too large and heavy. She desired breast implant removal to improve comfort and achieve a more natural appearance.
Preoperative MRI imaging revealed an intracapsular rupture of the left breast implant, while the right implant remained intact. To address her concerns, Dr. Janssen performed bilateral breast implant removal combined with a bilateral mastopexy using a circumvertical lift technique to reshape and support the breasts after explant surgery.
During the procedure, excess skin and tissue weighing 30 grams on the right and 60 grams on the left were removed to improve contour and symmetry. At 3 months post-op, the patient was extremely pleased with her lighter, more comfortable breasts and natural postoperative appearance without implants.
