Procedures Breast Reconstruction
At 55 years old, this patient returned to our office 13 years after her original breast reconstruction with implants in 2012. She was experiencing tingling in her left breast, discomfort during exercise, and painful restriction of movement caused by her implants being placed under the chest muscle. The implant position also created significant animation deformity, where the breasts distorted with muscle movement.
To address these concerns, Dr. Janssen performed revision breast reconstruction surgery. The previous 475 cc implants were removed and exchanged for smaller 435 cc MemoryGel BOOST™ implants to achieve the patient’s desired breast size. The implants were also repositioned from a submuscular placement to a pre-pectoral position above the muscle, helping relieve pain and improve mobility. Because of tissue deficiency in the upper portion of the breasts, fat grafting was performed to restore fullness and create a smoother, more natural contour.
Following surgery, the patient reported significantly less pain and discomfort, along with improved comfort during physical activity. She later completed her reconstruction journey with nipple tattooing.
