Case Details
This 75-year-old male patient was referred by his Ascension dermatologist for surgical removal of a basal cell carcinoma on the right lower side of his nose. He had a history of significant sun damage, actinic keratoses, and previous skin cancers. The previously biopsied 0.5 cm lesion site was surgically excised with 2 mm margins. The tissue was submitted to MMC for frozen section pathology analysis to evaluate the surgical margins.
The patient tolerated the procedure well with minimal blood loss and no reported complications. At his one-month follow-up, the incision was well healed, with continued improvement in its appearance over the following three months. The patient was very pleased with the cosmetic outcome.
