Breast Reconstruction

Case #392 Details

Procedures Depicted: Breast Reconstruction

This 52-year-old patient was diagnosed with atypical lobular hyperplasia in both breasts, without progression to malignancy. After thoughtful discussion and consideration of her options, she chose to proceed with a bilateral mastectomy followed by breast reconstruction, with the goal of maintaining a size similar to her natural breasts.Dr. Janssen performed her reconstruction two weeks after the initial mastectomy, using resorbable suture-based mesh to support the skin and implants. Although her recovery was complicated by the development of bilateral capsular contracture, she underwent a second procedure to exchange the implants. Final reconstruction included a 400 cc implant on the right, a 380 cc implant on the left, along with fat grafting to enhance contour and symmetry. The patient was very pleased with her final results.
