Blepharoplasty can be performed on either the upper or lower eyelids, or on both at the same time. The upper eyelid incision is made in the natural skin fold. The lower eyelid incision can be made directly under the eyelash line or on the inside of the lower lid. This discreet placement of incisions helps ensure no visible scarring around the eyes.
In addition to its aesthetic benefits, blepharoplasty can also be of medical benefit to those patients whose field of vision is impaired by excess, sagging skin. In such cases, medical insurance may cover the cost of the upper blepharoplasty.
