Semaglutide Injections for Weight Loss

If you’re struggling to lose those extra pounds, you are not alone. Did you know that approximately 70 percent of adults in the US are considered overweight or obese? FVPS is excited to now offer Semaglutide injections, a breakthrough treatment that delivers real results that last.

Several clinical studies show that weekly Semaglutide injections are highly effective at promoting weight loss. In one study, individuals treated with Semaglutide lost an average of 9-13 percent of their body weight over the course of a year.

You can now lower your blood sugar and feel full while losing those unwanted pounds!

Please note that the product we are using is being made in a compounding pharmacy and is NOT taking away from the pharmaceutical supply for diabetics.

What is this “Skinny Shot” and how does it work?

Semaglutide is a Glucagon-like peptide 1 (GLP-1) FDA-approved weekly injection drug indicated for weight loss.  Semaglutide works by slowing down how quickly food leaves your stomach (called gastric emptying). The result of these actions causes you to feel full, lowering your appetite and causing you to lose weight.

What are the benefits of taking Semaglutide?

Appetite suppression occurs from the pancreas increasing insulin secretion, the liver decreasing glucose production, and the gut decreasing gastric emptying and peristalsis, which increases nutrient absorption. This can result in a decrease in body fat percentage, weight loss, and lower HbA1c levels.

Semaglutide is safe under medical supervision, and it actually produces far fewer side effects than most other weight loss medications.

How quickly does it work?

Like most weight loss solutions, results will vary depending on lifestyle adjustments. We highly recommend a healthy diet and eating habits are paired with your Semaglutide injections if you want to see maximum results. It is important to be remain hydrated and stay on your injection schedule.

Is Semaglutide right for you?

If you are considering weight loss with Semaglutide, FVPS is here to help and we can determine if this weight loss program is right for you.

There are certain conditions that will disqualify you from being eligible to use Semaglutide:

  • Anyone with a personal or family history of thyroid cancer
  • Medullary Thyroid Carcinoma
  • Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia syndrome type 2 (MEN 2)
  • Patients with a history of severe allergic reaction to Semaglutide or its ingredients
  • Patients who experience inflammation of the pancreas (pancreatitis), gallbladder problems (including gallstones), symptoms of pancreatitis or gallstones, low blood sugar, acute kidney injury, diabetic retinopathy (damage to the eye’s retina), or increased heart rate.
  • BMI < 20

What are the common side effects of Semaglutide?

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention, and the most common side effects are mild and tend to improve with time as your body adjusts to the medication. You should always check with your health care professional if your side effects are bothersome of you have questions about them.

Common side effects include:

  • Nausea
  • Diarrhea
  • Vomiting
  • Constipation
  • Stomach (abdomen) pain
  • Headache
  • Fatigue (tiredness)
  • Heartburn
  • Bloating, burping, or gas
  • Injection site pain
  • Indigestion
  • Burning feeling in the chest or stomach

The side effects patients report are often mild. You can prevent or lessen the side effects by paying attention to what you eat. Fried and fatty foods, such as fast foods, and foods high in sugar tend to be harder for your body to digest and most likely to cause nausea. Pairing vitamin B6 to your treatment can help mitigate some of these side effects. We will offer B injections for an additional cost.

Tips to consider while taking Semaglutide:

  • Eat slowly, you will feel fuller faster
  • Small meals will help avoid nausea
  • Drink a glass of water with one tablespoon Metamucil or Citrucel daily for constipation
  • Avoid fried, greasy, or high sugary foods that are harder and longer to digest
  • Over the counter Omeprozole, a Proton Pump Inhibitor, helps to counteract acid reflux
  • Reacted Magnesium daily for constipation

Semaglutide Pricing at FVPS:

There are three pricing tiers for the Semaglutide program: phone, office and pick up. All require an initial $100 consultation fee upon booking the consultation to determine if they are an appropriate candidate for Semaglutide. If patients are eligible for treatment and would like to have their first injection that day, an additional $50 charge will be made on the day of the consultation visit.

Phone patients will have a consultation via a phone call. Please note that only patients who live more than an hour away from our office are eligible for phone consultations. At the time of inquiring for a consultation, the patient will be sent new patient paperwork, and this paperwork will be required to be returned to FVPS prior to the consultation appointment being booked. The paperwork includes a consent to prescribe Semaglutide. The non-refundable consultation fee is required at the booking the consultation. If the patient wishes to proceed with Semaglutide, the patient is charged $400 for the initial prescription, which can last up to two months. A credit card will be required to be kept on file for future orders. Credit card info will be taken at the time of consultation if patient is determined eligible. The prescription will be mailed to the patient. Order fulfillment can take one week excluding shipping time. Because the delivery will include your medication, a signature is required at the time of delivery. The prescription requires refrigeration.

Office patients will have an in-office consultation. The non-refundable $100 consultation fee is required at the time of scheduling. If the patient wishes to proceed with Semaglutide, the patient is charged $50 for the initial injection which can occur on the same visit. An RN will be injecting the Semaglutide into the abdomen during the office visit. Patients will be weighed and monitored for safe weight loss. This is repeated weekly for $75 per office visit (the additional $25 is the office visit/injection fee). This option works well for those who do not wish to inject themselves.

Pick up patients will also need an in-office consultation. During the patient’s first visit, the nurse will instruct the patient on how to self-inject the Semaglutide in the abdomen. The first injection is always administered in the office to ensure that the patient is doing it correctly. The subsequent doses are self-injected in the privacy of your home. Pick up patients will pick up a weekly syringe of the Semaglutide for $50 per syringe. Please call the office on the day that you are planning on picking up your syringes, as our office hours vary.

Patients are not tied into any one category of patient. Patients can stop being picking up and elect to go phone. Phone patients can elect to come into the office for their injections. The price is adjusted for the selected level of service.

In order to continue with the program, patients need to check in at least monthly for progress reports. This can be done in the office or on the phone.

Insurance does not cover Semaglutide for weight loss. FVPS does not bill Semaglutide to insurance. This prescription must be paid in full before the order is sent to the pharmacy. By law, prescriptions are not returnable and non-refundable.
